TERRALODGE TREEHOUSES
+ DOMES
MONTEAGLE, TN
These treehouses and geodesic domes aim to provide a unique rental experience to a rustic and remote region of Monteagle, Tennessee. The small footprint, creative use of space, and modern design combine to create a distinctive lens through which to view the beautiful scenery of Monteagle.
Upon arrival to the treehouses, the entry is solid but for a small lite of glass in the front door. The dark metal skin breaks to reveal a more textured and tactile copper panel inset with the entry door. At the far end of the treehouse, an expansive window off the rear of the cabin allows scenic views. A very modest 12’x18’ floor plan takes advantage of modular furniture to activate the living room for dining, lounging, or working in the wilderness. A lofted sleeping nook sits above the open living space.
Large glass panels are incorporated into the structure of the domes to create panoramic views from the custom interior. A dual fireplace separate the main sleeping area from the open concept of the living space. A lofted sleeping nook, accessed off the kitchen, is designed with smaller triangulated windows to allow light yet privacy.
The black exterior of both designs wrap the entire exterior, a mix of modern and rural industrial skin. The materiality shifts inside back to the warmth of natural wood paneling throughout. Rooted in nature, both contain a large deck area to enlarge the living area.
